It's been one of those days

Arlen got called to the farm early today and left a little after 10:30 am. He won't be home until about 9:00 pm. I always know the kids are difficult after he's had a day off because they miss him.

The kids and I all have colds and I'm just feeling wiped out and need a nap. I began making lunch and thought I'm making something simple today because I'm so tired. I was making grilled cheese sandwiches and had them all on the griddle when Kalen started saying poop, poop.

But it was too late, he had already pooped his pants. I grabbed him so he wouldn't walk across the floor and headed to the bathroom to clean him up. Well, he didn't have any underwear on because Theya was pulling his pants down earlier and spanking him. Then he took them off and only put back on his pants when I told him to put his clothes back on. So, because he had no underwear on, the poop rolled down the inside of his pant leg without me realizing it. It rolled on the floor and then I stepped on it in my new slippers. I took off my slippers and got Kalen into the bathroom.

Meanwhile Gannon is in his room serving a time-out for throwing a little people toy at me while I was making grilled cheese. He aimed for my head but missed and hit the microwave door so hard. Gannon is mad and is screaming at the top of his lungs in his room.

After I got Kalen cleaned up, I asked Theya to take him to his room to get on clean clothes. Then Gannon came out of his room and luckily stayed out of the poop on the floor. I then got cleaner and water and began to clean up the poop on the floor. It totally came out of the carpet which is a good thing. Then I had to clean my slippers before the poop dried on them.

Somehow during all this I remembered the grilled cheese and it didn't burn. We ate it cold about 45 minutes later with carrots and apple sauce. After the kids finished the grilled cheese and carrots I was dishing up the apple sauce. I was just about to sit down to eat my apple sauce when Kalen stood up in his chair and starting saying "pee, pee!" But (me pulling my hair out), it was too late again, he already peed his clean pants and it was running down his chair. I had to take him to the bathroom again and clean him up and put on clean pants. I cleaned up the chair and floor.

We finally all finished lunch and I read the kids a book. I put them all in their beds and the boys never go down for a nap well even though they still need one. Gannon was slamming a toy against the door and I went down to his room and opened the door to him saying "pee bad" and a big puddle of pee on the floor. I then had to take him to the bathroom to clean him up and then he pooped too but this time it was on the toilet, thank goodness! Then I cleaned up the pee on the floor and finally got the boys settled down for nap. Now maybe I can go get some rest too!

Aaaahh the joys of parenting. Those domino effect days are the worst! Your story reminded me much of my Give A Mom A Muffin post, although yours was true(and even better). Sending hugs from Washington. I heard once we'll laugh at these days in the future, but for now, it is just making it through them till bedtime that matters. You're a great mommy. ;)
