Chore Chart

I've been wanting to do a chore chart with Theya for awhile now and we've been talking about it but she hasn't wanted to do it. Theya is very stubborn and independent (I wonder where she gets that? Arlen and I are both that way, I think it comes from being first born.) and when she does or doesn't want to do something she holds to her guns. Knowing that about her I haven't introduced the chart. But last night we were talking and she said she wanted to do a chart. So, last night after the kids went to bed I made a chore chart. I used a template from DLTK Kids. It's a crafting website for kids and Theya and I make a lot of stuff from it.

We've decided to give her a sticker to put on the chart for every chore she does and at the end of each week we'll count all the stickers and she'll get a nickel for each sticker. Last night while I was looking around on the internet for ideas I came across SimpleMom.net. I put a button to it in the upper left hand corner of the blog so you'll have to check it out. I think its a really neat site.

Theya is going to get three jars. 10% will go in her tithe jar, 10% in her savings jar and 80% in her spending jar. My mom did this for my sisters and I and was such a good thing. Theya really likes 'green suckers' right now so when we grocery shopping every week she'll have spending money to buy one.

We started the chore chart this morning and she is so excited and she doesn't want me to help her with anything. I tried to help her brush her teeth this morning and she said, "No Mom, you can't help me the chart says I have to do it."

Please feel free to comment with any ideas you do for your kids, I'd love to hear them.

Hey Kristy, I love the jar idea. We do the same sort of thing with our kids. It's great for helping teach them to save for bigger things & tithing!

I did something similer for my kids. Theya is a little young yet for this but Chuck had a bag and he would have the kids put so much in it every time they got paid and that was for gifts for George and me. They were so excited when they used their own money to buy us something. Grandma
