I'm thankful for...my Mom's sewing machine and that she taught me how to sew. I'm making 24 cloth diaper wipes to go with my cloth diapers. I have a few old cream colored towels and some cream colored flannel my Mom had and turning them into wipes. One side is flannel the other terry cloth and then I'm top stitching around them with different colors and stitches. Arlen's Mom found 24 cloth diapers on KiJiJi that had never been worn that will fit Gannon and I'm going to make Kalen some diapers after I get the wipes done. My Mom found 12 diapers that she used for us girls and they are still good so I'll be using those for Kalen and then making 12 fitted diapers for him using more left over flannel and terry cloth. My friend Jenn is knitting me wool soakers to use as the diaper covers. I'm excited to do this and wished I new long ago that there was something other than plastic pants. Now I'm learning the options are endless and so easy when it comes to cloth diapering.
I'm listening to...the baby monitor and Arlen and Theya reading a book.
What's for dinner tonight....Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage, Brown Rice and Green Beans.
What I'm looking forward to...getting goats. We're almost ready for the goats and we might have as many as four goats by Saturday. We decided it was going to be too expensive to build a new shelter for the goats so Arlen cleaned out the middle section of the barn. That was a huge job! He built a really nice big stall in there for the goats and we laid nice fresh shavings down for them. It smells so good in there right now. Yesterday we went to Whatcom Farmers Co-op (my favorite store) and bought some feeders and buckets for the goats. Arlen also build the milking stand and stool and our milking supplies should be here next Tuesday. The goat we will be milking should provide us with a gallon and a quart of milk per day. That's more than we'll drink everyday so we'll be able to make yogurt and cheese. Arlen's been working on fencing, hopefully it doesn't snow too much and he can get it done.
What's happening this week....getting goats, making wipes and diapers. Oh, and trying to spring clean.
I am missing....Arlen's handlebar mustache! Just kidding! He just shaved it off and I have to say I'm happy. I'm also missing his job, its now been 5 weeks without it.
